8 Reasons to Resort Hop at POP Century and Art of Animation

8 Reasons to Resort Hop at POP Century and Art of Animation

  1. The resorts are connected by a bridge, so it’s a two for one deal. Even the bridge is pretty. There is a great walking/running trail around the resorts also. The views from all of the paths are incredible!

  3. Tie-dye cheese cake – Not only will the Cast Members do the hustle in the food court but you can also get a super groovy and yet yummy dessert! (POP)
  4. The Cars section of Art of Animation – Disneyland has Radiator Springs but you can sleep there in Walt Disney World! This area has brought such attention to detail that I can’t imagine any small child not wanting to sleep in the film.

  6. Our childhoods are here – No matter your age, you can relate to something at POP Century! I was born in 1968, so the 70’s and 80’s section are totally nostalgic for me. Yes, I had a Big Wheel and I know what an 8 Track tape is. I also love the 50’s section because it makes me thing of a more innocent time (and Happy Days).

  8. TheĀ  chandelier in the Art of Animation Resort. It’s just so fun and really works. I love lights and this is one of my favorites. (see Christmas picture)
  9. Roger Rabbit – He’s magnificent! I think Who Framed Roger Rabbit was way ahead of it’s time. There are some small touches left in Hollywood Studios but not nearly enough. The 80’s section of POP Century is home to Roger.

  11. The Little Mermaid section in Art of Animation – From the statue of Prince Eric (perfect for selfies) to larger than life Ursala and of course Ariel, you are completely immersed in the 1989 Disney Classic. The pool is not as big and splashy (sorry for the pun) as the Finding Nemo pool but it’s quieter and easier to manage if you have little ones.

  13. POP Century Shadow Boxes – Across from Check-In, they are dedicated to different eras in American history. They are filled with full size icons and mementos of decades past. It seems like I can always find something new.
  14. Bonus – Christmas – Think bright and super colorful and old school. I love metallic trees and they are easy to find at these resorts. You really can’t help but feel like a kid with the kitschy displays.

5 Fixes for Disney World Withdrawal

You’ve had an amazing vacation in Walt Disney World! One week of magic in the happiest place on earth. You’ve been Dole Whipped, flown with Dumbo and selfied with the main mouse himself. Now you’re home and the luggage won’t unpack itself! It’s back to the real world!
image

Hold onto the Magic with both hands! Here are some ways to keep that Disney smile on your face:
1. Watch some Classic Disney movies. (extra points if they are on VHS) I suggest Fox and Hound, when was the last time you saw that one?
image

2. Spa Day- get pampered and treated like the Prince or Princess you are!
image

3. Plan your next trip! Nothing takes the sting out of coming home than going right back!

image

4. Plan a Disney themed party to share your love of the World with others. Who wouldn’t love a Carousel of Progress themed dinner with some root beer and frozen pizza or an Epcot themed party with some Grand Marnier slushies,
caramel popcorn and school bread.

5. Read a blog to live vicariously through frequent visitors. May I suggest Positively Disney Living?

Don’t worry Disney World isn’t going anywhere and will always be waiting for you!

A Few Requests for the Disney Imagineers

If I could ask the Disney Imagineers for some new and/or improved attractions, where would I begin?

Magic Kingdom:
image

1. I love the Carousel of Progress, I really do so I think it deserves some love back. Let’s make this the show it could be and bring the family into the present or even the future!
2. How about Oswald? Like anything. A ride would be great but any sighting would be nice.

Epcot:

1. One word: Robots. Real working robots. That would be science at it’s coolest! Innoventions would be the best place ever!
2. Additional countries would really give a boost to World Showcase. Portugal, Poland and Australia could join in the party! Think of the food…

Animal Kingdom:

1. Bring Tarzan back in any capacity! Not just the occasional meet and greet. More Tarzan.
2. Would it be too much to ask for dinosaurs? Jurassic Park had them. Just a suggestion.

Hollywood Studios:

1. Hurry up with Star Wars Land!
2. Hurry up with Toy Story Land!

I’m sure everyone could put together a wish list! What would be on yours?
