Boma – Flavors of Africa at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Boma

We recently had dinner with our favorite Cast Members at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Let’s start with the setting. AK Lodge is such a beautiful setting. Definitely feels authentic and like it’s just been there forever. You should show up about an hour early so you can enjoy the scenery. Looking for the hidden Mickey’s can take quite a while and that’s just in the lobby! We were lucky enough to see the giraffes wandering the savannah.

Boma is buffet style dining with a twist. The food is not your average buffet fare, although there are the staples for children. There are multiple salads to start your meal. The combinations with the fruits are so refreshing! None of the soups should be skipped! I suggest small portions so as to not fill up too early! The Curried Coconut Seafood Stew and Corn and Chicken Chowder were wonderful.

The carving station does not disappoint with Spice-crusted Beef Striploin and Pork Shoulder. The Whole Roasted Salmon and Durban Style Roasted Chicken were prepared to perfection. The side dishes were so flavorful and somewhat unexpected. Who knew how tasty Fufu could be? Don’t miss out on the Bobotie!

Just when you think you may be getting a little full, it’s time for desert. The star of the show is the Zebra Cakes. The Bread Pudding with Salted Caramel sauce is decadent! There are mini cupcakes with a chocolate Mickey and cookies. Definitely a large variety.

While Boma is on the pricey side, I would highly recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed. They also serve Breakfast.
